Making of The Manic Nomads
The Manic Nomads are two guys crazy about travel and came about in the spring of 2015 with best friends Dave Lovely and Roy Newton joining forces to travel around the world on an epic adventure, mostly by motorcycle.
Dave & Roy first met in the summer of 2003 in Bellevue, Washington where they both lived in the same condo complex. Upon meeting they became instant friends. Despite Dave moving away from the area in 2006 their friendship continued to grow and they traveled to many destinations on short vacations when possible.
In the summer of 2014 Dave quit his job in Atlanta to head off on an adventure with the goal of traveling to every country in the world. The trip started in Olympia, Washington and traveling by motorcycle through all of Central and South America he made it to Ushuaia, Argentina, the Southern-most point of South America, in 7 months.
During this time Roy was a bit jealous to say the least. So Roy started making plans of his own to get a sabbatical from his teaching job at Mercer Island High School near Seattle. In March, 2015 it became official and Dave and Roy began working on their plans to travel throughout Europe between July, 2015 and December, 2015.
Some of the time we travel together and sometimes we take separate roads. Regardless, we are on this adventure of a lifetime and as best friends we provide support to each other at every turn.
In February, 2016 Roy needed to decide whether he would go back to work after his one year sabbatical was up or quit his job outright and continue the journey. He chose the only wise thing to do, threw caution to the wind and will ride on.
Starting in May, 2016 Dave and Roy left Europe on the next big part of their travels that took them through Central Asia to Asia.
Dave & Roy blog about their adventures through this website, Facebook, and other social medai with the goal of inspiring others to travel and experience this great world. They share a strong conviction that travel brings people of the world closer together and advances world peace through personal friendships and genuine encounters.
